  • P V Narsimha Rao was born on 28 June 1921 in Warangal of then Hyderabad State (now Telangana).
  • His full name was Pamulapati Venkat Narsimha Rao.
  • He was lawyer by profession and gradated from Osmania University
  • P V Narsimha Rao was the first Prime Minister of non hindi speaking south Indian state.
  • P V Narsimha Rao was the first Prime Minister projected from congress who was outside of Nehru-Gandhi family.
  • P V Narsimha Rao along with his cousin were the editors of a weekly telugu magazine Kakatiya Patrika in 40s under the pen-name Jaya-Vijaya.
  • Despite of Telugu tongue, he was very fluent and eminent speaker of Marathi and used to address Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan quite often.
  • P V Narsimha Rao was a multilinguist who apart from mother tongue Telugu knew and speak 14 different languages – Marathi, Telugu, Hindi, Oriya, Bengali, Gujrati, Tamil, Urdu, English, French, Arabic, Spanish, German and Parsian.
  • He died of Hear Attack at AIIMS in Delhi on 23 Dec 2004.

  • He worked as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from year 1971 to 1973 in which his work for Land Reforms was quite important.
  • He worked on different portfolios of  Home Minister, Foreign Minister and Defense Minister under both Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi regime.
  • He got the opportunity to head the minority government as tenth Prime Minister after the general election of 1991.
  • He won the Nandyal seat in general elections of 1991 by more than 5 Lakh votes which was entered in Guinness Book of World Record.
  • He included Sharad Pawar as Defense Minister and a non political face Manmohan Singh who was a economist by profession as Finance Minister in his portfolio.
  • P V Narsimha Rao made Subramaniam Swami the chairman of Labor Standards and International Trade who belonged to opposition party.
  • He also sent opposition leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee to represent India in United Nations meeting at Geneva which seldom occurs in Indian politics.
  • P V Narsimha Rao is also remembered as Father of Economic Reforms of India.
